Livin’ for the Weekend!

May 26th, 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized | No Comments »

What a great long holiday weekend!  We did so many things and enjoyed it all!  Friday night we went and got flowers for the yard and vegtable plants and put those in, check out the photos below.  I love sitting on my back porch and looking at my flowers.

Then on Saturday our neighbors had a party so we walked over for that and had a blast!  The kids played, they had more energy than us adults….LOL!!  We all sat around and talked and just acted a bit silly, but hey it was the weekend.   We had a fire and roasted marshmallows and hot dogs, and one guy….Scott…..yes I used your name….LOL….fell out of his chair and knocked over the tiki torch!!  We all just howled!!  He just laid there for a few minutes and then he finally got up, too funny!!  And yes LeeAnn I am going to find out about the “secret Barbie society”, can’t wait to see if it is what we thought it might be….LOL!!

Then on Sunday my little girl and I headed over to my friends house and hung out.  She has a dog that my little girl just adores and she was making a fuss over the dog.   We just sat outside and talked and played with Emily and just enjoyed the wonderful weather.

On Monday I did some cleaning early in the day and my little girl spent the day with her Dad, he took her golfing.  Come to find out she spent more time wanting to drive the golfcart than golf….LOL!!  It was my guy’s birthday and we cooked out and just relaxed.

Great weekend to kick off summer and I’m ready for it to be here and go as slow as possible.   I hope to do as much as I can with my daughter and family and enjoy every moment.

Here are some of the flowers we planted!!

Oh to be a kid again!

May 19th, 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Today I had to register my daughter for kindergarten.  She did really well, which pleased me…proud Mama!  So after the testing was done Emily is like I can go to kindergarten next week!!  I said no, not for a couple of months, let’s have summer first….LOL!!

It’s funny sometimes that at her age 5, there is no concept of time.  Everything has to be right now.  She is so excited about riding the bus and going to school she wants it all to happen now.  I try to tell her to be patient and don’t wish summer away and just have fun.

I do remember though being a kid and time was not something you worried about, I mean you went to school and then summer vacation would come around and you would just have fun.  But I did the same thing wishing it would all go faster….now I wish time would go slower and I could go back and enjoy those carefree days!

Time to flashback!

When it rains….

May 18th, 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized | No Comments »

it pours!!   At least when it comes to things that need fixed and money spent…LOL!!

Last week it was my car, I take it in for an oil change and tire rotation the previous week.  I get informed I need 2 new tires, ok I get those, then they say I need an alignment and I set up an appointment for that to get done.  Well I take it in for the alignment and they tell me I need things replaced and it will be over $300 to get the parts and the car fixed right.  Ok I do this since I can’t afford a new car and my runs good and is in decent shape.  I tell myself this is money well spent and I will not be without a car.  Ok I’m dealing with the $500 spent on the car.   Went on and had a good weekend, spent time outside, went to my Mom’s for a small party with family on Saturday all is good….

Start doing laundry on Sunday, get it almost done and then the washer dies.  Tried to fix it, but no go.  Get a bit fired up knowing I will need to get another washer, which means more money spent in a short time frame.  But then I realize I’ve had this washer for 22 years and it has well lived it’s life with me.  So today it is off to find a new washer and hopefully a good deal on one.

I know things could be worse and I was lucky to have the money saved, left overs from my tax refund, but it was just too much in a short time.  So I’m crossing everything I can that this will be it for quite awhile!

Footloose happening in Ohio??

May 11th, 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized | No Comments »

As I’m sure most of you have heard the news story of the young man from Findlay who is facing suspension for wanting to attend a prom at another school. The boy is a senior at a Bapstist High School which doesn’t have dancing or rock music or hand-holding and kissing in the school. Ok that is fine, those are the rules of that high school, but he will go to another school to attend prom. He wasn’t on his high schools grounds and no prom or dancing or anything else was done at his high school. He was still obeying the rules of his school. The prom will be at Findlay High School were dancing and rock music is allowed. If he goes, he can’t attend graduation but will get a diploma, now how fair is that?? This has me so fired up! And it is nothing against his high school for having the rules they do at their school, that is fine, but he will be going to another high school for the prom. And when did school officials rule what a student does once they leave school grounds? Isn’t that the resposibility of the parents to look out for their child once they have left school?? This young man deserves to graduate with the rest of his class. He respected the rules and did not do any of the dancing or listening to rock music on his high schools property. And those rules only apply to that school, not the town of Findlay. I feel as many do that the school is taking this a bit too far. Now if something was done on the schools property that would be different and then I could understand the suspension. I admire this young man for sticking to his decision about attending prom with his girlfriend. And I hope his family does look into the legal issues of what the school has done by suspending him and not letting him attend the graduation ceremony. So is God happy with the decision to punish a young man for wanting to just be a teenager and go to prom? Odds are not!!

Where is Kevin Bacon when you need him…oh here he is, enjoy!!

Happy Mothers Day!

I hope everyone has a great weekend, and all you Moms out there enjoy this Sunday, it’s our day!

I’m having a cookout at my house with my Mom and Aunt coming over, just going to enjoy being with family.

Coming in to work today I got to see a rainbow, and they always make me smile.  I feel like a kid again getting all excited at the beautiful colors in the sky.  I had to take the pic in my car, but you can see it, so enjoy.

Another loss in the music world….

May 7th, 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Ean Evans, the bassist for Lynyrd Skynyrd since 2001 lost his battle to cancer on May 6, 2009 he was only 48.  He replaced Leon Wilkenson who also died of cancer.  Ean had been playing since he was 15 and also played with The Outlaws.

It seems as we grow older we have to say good-bye to musicians we grew up listening to and it brings a sweet sorrow to your mind as you remember the music and feel the loss of an artist that has been a part of your life.

Take a look at these clips of some great musicians we have lost….

Gonna Miss ya Dom!

May 5th, 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Dom DeLuise passed away in his sleep at the age of 75. What a loss to the world of great comedians. I can remember seeing Dom when I was kid on the Dean Martin Show and just laughing to almost tears. He was a kind man with a sense of humor that was something very special. He was also a great cook and had numerous cook books published. Dom was in some of the best comedy films made such as Blazzing Saddles, Cannonball Run, Smokey and the Bandit, Spaceballs, Silent Movie….just to name a few. Enjoy these clips of Dom! R.I.P. Dom, you will be missed!
