The loss of a Hollywood Icon

June 25th, 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Sad news with the passing of Farrah Fawcett today, losing her battle to cancer.   And I will admitt I am a fan, I grew up watching “Charlie’s Angels” and followed her career after she left the show.

Farrah was every boys dream girl with her famous bathingsuit poster on their walls and every girl wanted her fantastic hair!!   Remember asking your stylist for the Farrah cut…LOL!!

I was so impressed with the acting roles she did after leaving “Charlie’s Angels”, proving she just wasn’t another sex goddess.  With the TV movies The Burning Bed, Nazi Hunter: The Beate Klarsfeld Story, Poor Little Rich Girl: The Barbara Hutton Story, Margaret Bourke-White and Small Sacrifices the world took notice of her talent.  Farrah recieved a Golden Globe nomitation for best actress for her role in the motion picture “Extremities”.  Gorgeous girl from Texas making her mark in the world of the beautiful and famous.

When the icons you grew up with die you feel a part of the history of your life being lost.  These are people you watched on TV or in movies and felt a connection with them in some way.  You seem to think the will never age and be there for all time.  And they will be with the legacy of acting they have left behind.

Farrah will be missed my millions of fans around the world, including me.  I send prayers to her family and hope that she is at peace now.

Summertime

June 23rd, 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I did enjoy summertime this past weekend.  What beautiful weather and not to hot or anything.  I took Monday off to have a long weekend.  With July 4th around the corner you know summer will fly by after that, unfortunately.

Emily and I headed over to my girlfriends house on Saturday night and had a good time.  We sat outside and watched Emily run and play in the yard with the dog and just talked.  Talked about old times with old friends and I’m trying to find some of them on Facebook.  We are planning a big party for my birthday in July and I would love to see some of them!   Funny how over the years you lose track with people.  I hope I have some luck finding them, gotta love the internet!

Hope all you Dad’s had a great day on Sunday.   My guy came over for a little bit and Emily gave him the gift and card she picked out for him.  He was thrilled and she was happy too.  Then her and I spent time outside, she played in her pool and was hoping to see her Dad later on but she didn’t and that was hard on her.   She is like her Mama, very emotional and gets hurt easily.  She had made him a gift at school and was so excited about giving it to him, and she did on Monday.

Looking forward to this weekend, not only is it the beginning of my vacation, but Transformers 2 will be out and hopefully at the drive-in!  Saw the first one at the drive-in and it was so awesome.  Emily has been talking about it and can’t wait to go.  She loves the drive-in, basically because she can sit outside and move around and not have to be so quiet like in a movie theatre.  So that is the plan for Saturday night off to the drive-in!

Another Weekend

June 19th, 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Yep it’s here again and I’m so happy.  Things are fantastic in my life and I know that they will only get better as time goes on.  John you are wonderful and you know what you mean to me….love you!

No big plans for this weekend, going to enjoy the weather once the rain gets out of the area and just spend time with my guy and daughter.  Hope to cook out maybe on Sunday.

I wish all you Dads a great day on Sunday.  I miss my Dad everyday, but when Fathers Day rolls around I get even more sentimental.    So enjoy your Dad and give him plenty of hugs on his special day!

Why I love David Letterman!

He laughs and jokes no matter the situation, never takes anything too seriously.  Something we all need to do, don’t sweat the small stuff!

The Weekend

June 15th, 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized | No Comments »

It was great!  It started off with a surprise from my guy.  Thanks again baby….Love you!!  He got us tickets to head down to Columbus on Saturday to see Heart!!  I was so happy and excited.   The concert was kick ass!  Ann and Nancy still have it and can rock out like they did back in the day.  Ann’s voice was in top notch shape and Nancy rocked out on the guitar.  They did their songs of cours end did some Zeppelin and also The Who.  The crowd was crazy and Lifestyles was packed.   We had a fantastic time.

Then on Sunday my daughter, myself, and my friend Debbie headed up to Monsoon Lagoon.  We pretty much had the place to ourselves.  It was a beautiful day and not too hot and we got plenty of sun, yep I got some sunburn and Emily loved being in the water.  We spent the whole day up there and just relaxed.

Now back to work and it is beautiful for a Monday.  I am getting close to my vacation for the summer…2 more weeks and then I will be off for a week!  Can’t wait and I know it will be the best vacation ever!!  (Hint….Hint….JR!)

Oh yeah summer is here and enjoy it!!

Time

June 11th, 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Time is something we all take for granted.  It’s easy to do with all the hussle and bussle of everyday life.  Thinking we can put things off until tomorrow and next week or next month.  And then life happens and time becomes precious.  As I’ve become older I want time so go slow, mainly because I don’t want to get older….LOL!!  But also so I can enjoy every moment with family and friends.

Recently I’ve been told to be patient and all will be good in time.  But I’m not doing well at waiting, mainly because I don’t know how much time is going to pass by before all is good.   Oh sure I know the saying all good things come to those who wait….well what is an appropriate “waiting time”?  When you go to the doctor you wait and you are prepared for maybe up to 20 minutes to see the doctor.  You go to your favorite restaurant and there is a line, so you know you will be waiting 10 to 20 minutes for a table and it is worth the wait.  Going shopping on the weekends you know there will be a chance you will have to wait in line at the checkout and you do because you want your stuff.   These are all things where you have a good idea of how long you will be waiting.   But when you don’t know how long you have to wait it can drive you crazy!  And it’s normal to get anxious while waiting because you are waiting on something that you want dearly.  So time seems to drag on and on and you think of all the moments that are being lost while you are waiting.   And at the same time you know when the waiting is over life will be all you want and more.  So you have faith, stronger than ever before that the waiting won’t be longer than you can bare and  the person asking you to wait will realize that time is precious.

Patience

June 9th, 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized | No Comments »

That is something I am not blessed with, at least not when it comes to something I want with all my heart.   And right now I have to find some patience and it is a struggle.   I know it will be worth the struggle but at the same time it drives me crazy….LOL!!  But I will do anything I can for the people I love and right now that is being patient, so here I go!

I see this trait in my daughter Emily.  She wants what she wants right now, nothing can wait.  And it can make me crazy but then she comes by it honestly and I remember she is taking after her Mama and I can’t really be upset with her that plus the fact she is 5 and everything needs to be done quickly.  Well everything she wants, not getting ready for school or anything like that gets done quickly…..LOL!!

Being in love is not always easy at times but it is wonderful no matter the situation and I’m blessed to have a great guy in love with me despite the fact I’m not patient in any sense of the word, of course my only fault….LOL!!

The Weekend

Yep it’s here again and this one I’m not really looking forward to going to be a long one but not in a good way.   Sometimes we speak and the words that have been said cause hurt.  And it wasn’t done intentionally it just happened.  We always hear the saying look before you leap, think before you speak…well believe me keep that in your mind at all times.   And “stick and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me” that is so not true.  So for the person that I hurt by not thinking first I am truly sorry.  Believe me when I say it wasn’t done with any intention of harm.  You know my heart and that I mean it when I say I’m sorry.

I hope all of you enjoy this weekend and get some sun before the rain gets around.  Be safe and hug everyone you love!!

Life

June 4th, 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Sometimes it makes you want to scream your lungs out!  At times it goes along so easy and then  comes along a bump in the road and BAM!!

I hit a bump and well….crashed so to speak.   And instead of holding onto the steering wheel so to speak and getting over the bump with ease, I lost control.  We all make mistakes and we all hope to learn from them, at least we hope never to make the mistake again.   The problem is that sometimes with a mistake comes consequences that kick you in the butt!

Unfortunately we don’t live with the ability to go back in time and avoid the bump in the road and the mistake.  If only life was like Back To The Future…LOL!!  So you try and pick up the pieces and move ahead and learn a lesson.   And I thought once I was done with college I was done learning….LOL!!   We learn something everyday, and it may not be something we enjoy, but we do learn from the experience.

Summer Movies

June 2nd, 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized | No Comments »

And there are a lot to see and I hope I get to see all the ones I want this summer.

Over the weekend went to the drive-in and saw UP and STAR TREK.  Both were good, UP was interesting not what you might think from PIXAR and STAR TREK had a good cast with amazing effects.  It was cool to see Leonard Nemoy in 3 different roles.

I’m looking forward to the new TRANSFORMERS movie and hope to see it at the drive-in also.  My daughter loves to go there to see movies and thinks it is so cool that you can sit outside.

Here are a couple of clips from UP and STAR TREK and TRANSFORMERS….enjoy!
