The Meaning of Christmas

15 December 2009 | By jane-wqel in Uncategorized

It can be different things to everyone.   If you are a child it’s all about what Santa is going to leave under the tree and that there will hopefully be some snow to play in Christmas Day.   For my Grandmother is was about having all the family at her house for dinner and the food and being thankful we were together to enjoy the day.   It’s about the birth of Jesus and what he has given us to get through our life everyday.   And for many this year with the economy the way it is, it’s about giving.   Many of us, including myself are in difficult financial times and it’s a wonderful feeling when family and friends and even people you don’t know, reach out with a helping hand.   It may be tough to accept that helping hand, but it is given with love and someday you will be able to reach out and help someone in need.   And it doesn’t always mean you need to spend money to help someone, there are many ways to help someone in need.   So many have helped me this holiday season and I will find ways to give back and let them know how loved and appreciated they are and that Im blessed to have them in my life.   So for me the meaning of Christmas is family and friends, it always has been, but this year it’s more precious than ever, and I thank each and everyone of you with all the love in my heart.   My daughter’s smile on Christmas morning will be the only gift I will need this holiday season.  Be thankful for all you have in your life and embrace your loved ones.
